Zoobe is what the name for the puzzle and adventure game I want to design. It is a game where you are an animal, in a shape of a box and trying to escape from the zoo without getting caught but the humans or traps.
The background story for this game is that one night the animal decided that they want to get away and out of the zoo and be free. Some nights after, one of the animal's gate was left unlock and left their "home" behind them. Since all the animals wanted to be free and actually go back to the jungle. The animal that escape went to get the key for the gate, with the help of other animals trying to get the zoo keeper drop the key to all the gates.
To play this game, you are the animal who's gate was left unlock and have to get the key to open the other gates for the animal. The animal can't move by itself so you have to move them yourself without getting caught by the zookeeper or traps. To free the animal you either have to move them to the box that is highlighted outside the zoo's gate.
The game will have a timer, it will either be how long you can escape the animal or see if you can complete the level at a certain time. It will also have instant lose when you go near the traps or the zookeepers. You will have different ways to go past or around the traps and zookeepers. You can look around the place and think of you next move but using the mouse to look around or click on the menu selections.

Nhu,
ReplyDeleteI just read through your blog post that outlines your chosen game idea. I found your game idea to be very interesting indeed. I liked that you thought of backstory for your game as I haven't see anyone else doing that as of yet. the wow moment for me is when you can get an instant lose if the player goes near the traps or the zoo keeper. I think this is quite a clever idea to do as it will make the game more enjoyable yet challenging. What if you had a results chart where the player could record how long it took them to finish a level? This may make it more interesting for the player because they will be competing to try to get better times. I wonder what the game will look like visually? Whats the theme of the game going to be? Overall I found your game idea very interesting and I can't wait to see how you develop your ideas further.
Hey Nhu! This is a great post that really goes into detail discussing what your game is about and how the gameplay works. I really like the story of the game with the animal trying to avoid being caught by humans or traps. The background story is really interesting to me I can understand why the animal would want to escape back into the jungle. I wonder what the different ways to go around the traps and zookeepers will be? Will they be able to collect any tools to help them escape? The timer is a good idea but how much time will the animal have to escape and complete the level? What will the menu selections consist of? I really like this game idea it's so unusual. I like how you added in a background story about why the animal wants to escape. I'm looking forward to see your game develop even further, great post!
ReplyDeleteHi Nhu,
ReplyDeleteI've read through your game vision and your game idea is very interesting. I really like that you've added a backstory of your game in this post because it helps to get the feel of what the game is about and what you have to do in order to complete it. The idea of the animals having to escape the zoo while avoiding humans and traps sounds really fun! I can understand why the animals wound want to get out of the zoo and back into the jungle. I think the part with the timer is exciting because it puts pressure on the players to escape before time runs out. How much time will you have to escape the zoo?
Overall, I think this is a very strong game vision that consists both of a good idea and detailed gameplay. I'm looking forward to see how your game develops!
Hi Nhu! Your game idea sounds really cool! It is clear that you put a lot of thought into it. I like your idea because it highlights the topic of zoo's. In today's society, our attention tends to be on other things happening in the world, I don't think zoo's and animal welfare is talked about enough so I'm glad your highlighting the topic. I like how your game is a strategic game. I always find those games really fun to play. Will the timer be displayed on screen at all times or will it just come up when you have 10 seconds left? This could add even more pressure to the player in game play. How far away from the zookeepers can you be without getting caught? I think this is a really original game idea and I can't wait to see how it turns out!
ReplyDeleteHi Nhu, just read your post. Your idea for a puzzle and adventure game sounds rather interesting and the backstory sounds very unique and actually has a message to it. Looking at the post you really put in alot of thought into this idea and really have a passion for it. The fact the goal is to free the animals from captivity and let them back out into the wild gives the game and player a good objective to strive for and shows that animals deserve freedom. Cant wait to see more of this, it has so much potential and the backstory reall makes it. Good luck with it.
