Multimedia Project Presentation

Today we presented our game 'Tiny Farm' to our year and we got the chance to look at all the other game that was made for this module. The first game I saw was Rob's game 'Monster Flip'. His game was a puzzle game, it has three different levels. when you click on one of the puzzle pieces it will rotate. You have to click the piece until it is in the right position. After you finished the level you can go back to the menu page and click on the next level. I like that the game is for kids who have autism. I enjoy playing this game because it was simple and easy to play. The next game I saw was Darragh's game 'Alien Twine Game'. His game was a story adventure game. It tells a story and you get to choose which option you would like to pick. Each option will bring you to a certain route, it depends on what and which option you pick. I enjoy playing this game because it was fun and interesting to see where you will end up at the end of the story. Battle

At this stage of our game project, we are nearly completed with getting all the level working. The only problem we have is that we can't drag and drop the numbers. We are still looking and trying to figure out what is wrong. Getting the menu, setting, level and any other pages to go one frame to another was easy enough. It was the same code over again so we didn't have any problem with getting it to wrong. For the setting page, we have a button for muting the sound and music but we just have to add in the code for this. (the video below is the coding for the volume) The level that isn't dragged and drop, you just have to click on the correct answer. When you click on the correct/wrong answer it will bring you to a different scene and say that you either got it correct or wrong. This week, my group and I continue working on our game Tiny Farm, we talked about who will create the illustration for that level and how each level will look like. All levels will have either addition or subtraction.  While the girls were creating the final look for the level, I was working on the codes for the game. I had all the buttons set up all I had to do was relocate them and add in any effects I want. For example, the home page buttons is a fly in effect, this effect was in Adobe Animate. Adobe Animate gave a lot of different effects we could use. All we had to was select what you want to give an effect on so, in this case, it was the buttons. Once you selected that you then pick the effect you would like to use and click apply. While I was working on that, Robyn sent me the home menu background. Project Research

In this blog, I will talk about all the research I did since we got this assignment. Since my role was coding, I looked at different Adobe Animate tutorials so I can understand how to use it. I also looked at different kids games and take some inspiration from it. When I was looking at kids games I looked at educational games and other games from the age of 4-6 years old. I looked for games that were maths and games on the iPad, since we want a maths game and for iPad. These were the games I found Cool Maths Game  (PC) Fun Brain  (PC) Maths Is Fun  (PC) Toddler Learning Games (iPad) PlayKids (iPad) The games on the iPad were a mix of drag and drop and tap/click while the games on PC were tap/click. MD2Final GDD

For the next few weeks, I would like to have most of the cartoon drawing for the game and that most of them are on the Adobe Animate with the game coded up. The last few days I have been looking at videos of how to get the game to go to one scene to another. When I couldn't get it to go one scene to another, I got it to go to one frame to another. The video GDD below and last week post talks about what we want for our Multimedia 2 game project. What we add to the GDD was how the game level will progressively get harder each time the player passes a level. We also add in the colour palette and the illustration we have for the game. Game Design Document

For this week blog, we had to create a Game Design Document (GDD) for our game assignment. Instead of using DunDoc we were asked to use powerpoint to create our GDD. Each member was assigned to write about their chosen topic. I was assigned to researched and write about the technical, game architecture and user interface. So I drew up the game architecture on draw.io and I looked up the touch screen technology for the user interface because we want the game to be on the iPad since this is a kids game and kids nowadays are always on their phone or iPad. The Tiny Farm GDD video below talks about what game it will be and our goal for this group assignment. We also talk about the looks and feel of the game we would like and want. Final Draft

This blog post has all the annotated blogs I researched. It is the final literature paper for this semester game project.  In case you missed my previous blog post, my game idea for this semester is to make a game for younger children in Primary School. Most likely going to be children from the age to 4 to 6. It's an interactive learning game. This game is about learning different subjects but in a fun and entertaining way. We got inspiration from Duolingo and Study Stack . Just like last week blog post, I will be discussing another 5 article that relates to my Multimedia Project for this semester, These are the different Annotated Bibliography I looked at: Nelson, K, Plesa, D, Henseler S : Children’s Theory of Mind: An Experiential Interpretation. Multimedia Project Research

This semester I will be in a small group project. As in for right now we only have 7 people in our group project. In my group there is Emma Byrne, Robyn Mulhall, Nicole Goodman, Marcin Grabicki, Esmee MacPherson and Eva Garrett We want a game for the junior infant to 1st class (4-6 years old children), it's disgusted as a game but it's interactive learning. We were thinking of making it in like an app where the children can play when they are on the tablet or phone because nowadays there's are kids with iPhone and iPad etc. so if they are on these devices watching youtube or playing games on it. They can play this learning game instead of going on youtube. It will be similar to Duolingo and Study Stack but it will be easy, simple and fun for the kids.
