The game is slowly getting to where I want it to go but I am still having a problem with making the player collect the animal and instant death when hitting the "zookeeper"

When I add in the codes to make the player collecting the animal it wouldn't work but it collecting the "key" works if you go over it and makes a ding sound so I know its working. Either today or tomorrow I will work on it again and see if it will work. Hopefully, it works.

The instant death still wouldn't work for me, the "zookeeper" either doesn't move or it goes off the floor.

I added in more animals and zookeeper to make the game more interesting. I didn't want to have too many levels since it only for a project and I'm not making a real game for everyone in the world to play. So I'm thinking of having at least 3-4 levels.

I am also thinking of having an item that makes you go faster but I don't think that's possible for me to do since I can't even get the player to collect the animals in the cage.

What my game look so far.

  1. Hey Nhu! Wow your game looks amazing! It's really coming together nicely.I like the colour scheme and the general aesthetics of your game. Your screenshots really show off your game nicely. It seems you have really thought out your game clearly and know where your going. It seems like you have the basics of your game down now, all you have to do is build on that now. You have the hard part of the game development process done now, now you can have fun and relax a bit! I agree with you, I think 3-4 levels is plenty. This will give the player the feel for the game. I think that's all thats really being asked of us. Well done, looking forward to seeing the finished product!

  2. Hey Nhu, Your game looks really nice and its clear you have put time and effort into it. I see you have a lot of scripts, don't know how you got them all working. I have done like 2 and I keep getting error's here and there which take forever to try and fix and sometimes I might not be able to fix it so I have to change something about my game. 3-4 levels sounds like a good idea. I think you can get the point across in that many levels that you know the basics of how to make a game.

  3. Hi Nhu
    Your game looks awesome and your work is definitely showing. I really like the way you make your animals into shapes because weirdly it works! They add a fun aspect into the whole colourful zoo environment. I'm glad to see that you have the basics of your game done and you can focus on building up from that. I know how frustrating the small parts are when they don't work the way we want them to, like you've mentioned that the player collecting the animals or the instant death features not working. You should definitely keep on trying in fixing these issues.
    Since you have the basic's of your game complete you can have fun with making your different levels. I think that 3 to 4 levels are a really good amount for your game.
    So far your game is looking great so keep up the good work! I'm looking forward to see the end result!!

  4. Hey Nhu, the game looks really cute so far! It looks really retro which I love, gives a nostalgic effect! It must be frustrating for the code not to work, when you do get it to work I'll be looking forward to seeing what its like when it's functioning so that the zoo keeper could have instant death!, If you ever plan to expand the game onto further levels, a thing that you could do to make it more difficult as the level goes on could be a time limit! it'll give you more options to expand the levels as you could have both options to make more difficult levels. Hopefully when you sort the instant death you could do the item that makes it faster, something like a net would be cool as it would co-ordinate with the fact hes a zoo keeper, Good luck with the rest of your game!

INTRODUCTION

ABOUT ME My name is Nhu Thai. I am really shy but after you know me you will probably regret knowing me. I love meme, I mean who doesn't? I am the oldest and I have 2 annoying brothers and one told me to write that he's a good singer...he thinks he's Beyonce... The best module I took from last year was probably web development because I like doing the coding but I also hate it at the same time. I understood it because I took down notes and ask the lecturer and classmates for help. When I saw that web development was one of my highest grade I was shocked and happy.  Career wise... I don’t really know exactly what I want to do. I would like to go and do something that involves media but I still don’t know if I want it for the long term yet. If I am doing it for the long term, I would like to go to graphic design or photography or website design.  Over the summer, I went to Disneyland Paris again. I only went because my little cousins wanted to go and I thought i...

Final Draft

This blog post has all the annotated blogs I researched. It is the final literature paper for this semester game project.  In case you missed my previous blog post, my game idea for this semester is to make a game for younger children in Primary School. Most likely going to be children from the age to 4 to 6. It's an interactive learning game. This game is about learning different subjects but in a fun and entertaining way. We got inspiration from Duolingo and Study Stack . The following annotated review will cover a wide variety of experiential learning that will focus on the experiencing children/students have with learning from school/home and social. Evan Ortlieb wrote about how experiential learning can have on students when learning in and out of the classroom. One of the main methods of learning is that we can learn from doing something, learning from our mistakes. Students who are interested in literacy and using technology and experiential learning should be a central...

MD2Final GDD

For the next few weeks, I would like to have most of the cartoon drawing for the game and that most of them are on the Adobe Animate with the game coded up. The last few days I have been looking at videos of how to get the game to go to one scene to another. When I couldn't get it to go one scene to another, I got it to go to one frame to another. The video GDD below and last week post talks about what we want for our Multimedia 2 game project. What we add to the GDD was how the game level will progressively get harder each time the player passes a level. We also add in the colour palette and the illustration we have for the game. We will have a group meeting and working together every Wednesday and Thursday. If we can't do that we have a group chat, most of our decisions were made through this. Game Flow Chart;
